I couldn't get out of bed.

I cried for no reason at all.

I didn't want to see my friends.

I constantly yelled at my kids.

This lasted for years.

In an effort to get me out of my house, a friend began scouring event listings to find free things to do.

We attended:

🔹An essential oils class (it ended up being a multi-level marketing recruitment meeting).

🔹A lecture at the University of Arizona from a visiting holistic doctor

🔹A Reiki circle

I had heard of Reiki before but had never experienced it.

We entered the room and you could actually feel the energy. Twenty or so chairs were set up in a circle and we took a seat.

I opted not to receive Reiki that night as I wanted to observe, so while others gave and received, I took in what I was experiencing and meditated.

Suddenly I was brought to tears. Not the tears I was used to shedding for apparently no reason at all.

These were tears of relief. They were tears of healing. They were tears of happiness because I had found something that made me feel better.

I went to a couple more Reiki circles and mustered the energy to call my doctor. She prescribed medication to get me out of my funk and the healing began.

I contacted the organizer of the Reiki circles I attended and enrolled in her Reiki Level 1 Certification class. A year or so later, I obtained my Reiki Level 2 Certification and slowly began my business.

I am pretty sure that Reiki saved my life.

What can Reiki do for you and your depression?

🔸Reiki restores balance to the body and the mind. This improves moods and enables the client to overcome the sadness of depression.

🔸Interacting with a compassionate Reiki Practitioner who knows what you are going through provides a connection that may be missing from your family or friends.

🔸Reiki puts the client in control. They are taking action on treating their illness which can restore confidence and self-worth.

🔸Reiki relieves stress by engaging the vagus nerve which sends messages to your brain that it is time to relax and de-stress which has been proven to improve wellbeing and resilience.

While more and more scientific studies are showing that Reiki is effective in treating mild depression, I always recommend that Reiki be used in conjunction with traditional medicine and therapies. Be sure your Reiki Practitioner does too.
